CIRC 2025 CIRC Central Guidelines

All competitors are expected to follow these guidelines throughout the competition. They are intended to keep the facility clean and maximize safety for everyone. During the competition, teams should plan to store, work on and test their rovers at CIRC Central.

  1. ARRIVING AT CIRC CENTRAL
    1. CIRC Central will open at 10 AM on Friday, and be open until the competition concludes with the awards ceremony.
    2. Teams are required to register their arrival at the CIRC Front Desk. There, they will be informed of their work area
    3. Teams will be provided with the following:
      1. 2 work tables
      2. 1 extension cord to their work area, laid down by CIRC
      3. 1 power bar
      4. Minimum of 15 chairs
      5. Wifi access (best effort only, no ethernet connections will be available)
    4. Teams will have a 15’ x 15’ work area, and are expected to stay inside this area. This includes any additional equipment, tools, tables, etc that teams bring with them.
    5. Rovers must be able to fit through the doors of the facility [width of 0.8m] and into CIRC Central
    6. The Badlands Community Facility is a non-smoking space. Smoking is only permitted in designated outdoor spaces.
  2. SAFETY
    1. The Muster Point in case of evacuation is located to the north of the building (opposite the parking lot). Teams should assemble there, and verify all of their members are present. The secondary muster point is located at the east end of the parking lot
    2. First Aid is at the CIRC Central Front Desk if you need it
    3. Fire extinguishers are located at each task site. Additional Badlands Community Facility fire extinguishers are located in the lobby.
  3. DURING THE COMPETITION
    1. CIRC Central is open to the public, and teams are encouraged to interact with each other and the public.
      1. All behaviour should reflect well on their teams and institutions, and be in line with CIRC’s Code of Conduct
    2. All participants are required to have their CIRC issued name tag at all times.
    3. All damage to CIRC or event centre property should immediately be reported to a CIRC Volunteer
      1. This includes any tears in the floor covering
    4. Gas-fueled burner usage is not allowed anywhere inside the facility
    5. No welding is permitted anywhere inside the facility.
    6. Do not perform potentially damaging activities, such as drilling, glueing, soldering, etc., on the tables. Table coverings are available upon request.
    7. All teams are responsible for the safe storage and handling of any tools, chemicals, or hazardous materials.
    8. Storage or use of biological materials (e.g. for the science task) is prohibited.
    9. Rovers may be driven on covered floors or outdoors only
    10. Provided chairs are not to be used as work benches.
    11. Teams are to be reasonable in their power consumption.
    12. Any teams bringing in food are expected to clean it up.
    13. Do not prepare food in CIRC central, and liquids should only be disposed of in bathroom sinks.
    14. The facility BBQ and kitchens are not available to participants.
  4. CLEAN UP
    1. All teams are responsible for the disposal of any sharp objects, chemicals and hazardous materials.
    2. Teams are expected to clean up their work area after the conclusion of the awards ceremony, prior to the BBQ.
    3. Provided Chairs must be stacked, and provided tables must be collapsed.
    4. The CIRC provided power-bar must be returned to the CIRC Central Front Desk. Teams which fail to return their power-bar may be assessed a replacement fee.
    5. All equipment borrowed from the CIRC Tool Crib must be returned before the 1500 on Monday.
