Emergency Information

  • For police, ambulance, fire, call 911
    • For Heat Stroke (vomiting, confusion, hot/dry skin or extreme sweating), call 911, get the person indoors and cool immediately. See Safety below for additional tips on responding to Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke.
  • For first aid, find a volunteer at your site or the front desk of CIRC Central
  • For Code of Conduct violations, submit a report here

Safety

  • It can get hot really hot. So:
    • Spend time in the shade
    • Sunscreen
    • Avoid over exertion outside
    • Drink lots of water or hydration drinks. Do not run solely on coffee all weekend
    • If you off, immediately seek shade or an air conditioned space to rest and rehydrate

Each site has water and shade. Higher temperatures bring increased risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. What to look for is below:

Immediate care

Heat Exhaustion Heat Stroke
Remove from heat
Loosen tight clothing
Do not dry skin
Active Cooling
Pour water on torso
Fan skin



If person is alert, provide cool drink (sips only)
Remove from heat
Loosen tight clothing
Do not dry skin
Aggressive Cooling (order of preference)
Immerse body in cool water
Immerse forearms in cool water
Pour water on torso
Fan skin

General

Name tags

You require a name tag at all times. There are two types of name tags:

  • White - participants
  • Blue - Volunteers

You will not be permitted on task sites if you do not have your name tag on.

Muster Point

Muster Point for Badlands Community Facility is out front in the parking lot.

Building/facility notes

  • 24 hour access is allowed. You require a name tag at all times.
  • Water bottle refill is available in the lobby near the washrooms.
  • Washrooms:
    • Not for dishes
    • Make sure to keep them as clean as possible. Put your trash, in the trash. If it is overflowing, tell the facility staff so it does not become a mess.
  • Water only in fountains. No dumping coffee, or juice, or rinsing containers in advance
  • Work should only occur within the field house space. Unless it has been directly provided, it is not a working space. Do not be using any random time.
    • The children’s play area is off limits.
  • The doors should outside should not be propped open for extended periods of time, as it can overwhelm the building air conditioning / HVAC.
  • There are other activities in the field house, please respect the other patrons, and all facility staff.
  • Team areas have been clearly marked with tape. Stay inside your space.
  • Do not touch the electrical spider boxes.
  • Keep the paths open.
